BAIN, Vella
November 10, 1925 - January 8, 2011
It was with sorrow that the family of Vella Elanor Bain announce her passing at the age of 85 years. Vella is survived by her three sons, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren with two more on the way and by her forever daughter-in-law, Susan.
Vella was predeceased by her beloved husband Bonar in 2005 and was the youngest and last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by ten siblings and her parents Mary and Levi.
Vella's life was characterized by her commitment to her family and her community. She lived for her husband and children and was passionate about their care. She was active in her community and devoted many efforts to the care and well being of senior citizens through the Lions club. She was a devoted wife and together with Bonar, they accomplished many things in their lives. Whatever they did, they did together. Bonar's death in 2005 was very difficult for her and there was not a day that went by that she did not think or speak of him.
Vella will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for the many special moments that she spent with them. Vella was a creative person who sought perfection in the activities and hobbies which she pursued. Her gifts of knitted sweaters, treat bags and special moments at Christmas time will live on in her families memories as a lasting memento of a special person.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Misericordia Hospital - Units 7East and 4West and to the Good Samaritan Care Centre in Stony Plain Alberta where Mom spent her last days. Their care and compassion made the best of a difficult situation as her health began to fail.
At Vell's request, there will be no formal service. Her family will gather together and remember special moments. She will be interred at Westlawn Memorial Gardens, Edmonton, where she will join Bonar.
Donations gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Good Samaritan Society.
