Vernon Rider

Vernon C. Rider, 74, Rockford, died Thursday morning.

He was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Center Township to Cecil B. and Emma (Nolan) Rider.  On June 21, 1941, he married Martha M. Mihm, who died April 10, 1992.

Survivors are a son, Ron, Marion, Ind.; and two grandsons, Rodney and David, both St. Marys.

Mr. Rider was retired from Reynonds + Reynonds, Celina, and farming.  He was a member of Olive Branch Church of God, Rockford, and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.  He was a member of American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1292, both Rockford.  He also was active in the Mercer County Council on Aging.

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Steve Waterman officiating. Burial, with graveside services conducted by the American Legion, will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the Eagles will conduct a service at 8:30.
