Major Barron married Martha A. Walker of another distinguished Pioneer family. His property was located about 6 miles south of Ashland. The house he built in 1852 with James H. Russell and John Gibbs still stands and was restored in 2004 as a B & B. It is the oldest framed structure in the Rogue Valley (i.e., the first built with lumber rather than logs).
