A teacher, she was nicknamed "Torie" and was the daughter of America M. Wheeler and Harriet Eliza Meekins; second wife of Charles Harding Clanton, married 4 April 1882 Madison County, Iowa.

From: Indianola Herald, Indianola, Iowa dated October 13 1898 - Victoria Wheeler Clanton, daughter of A. M. and Hattie Wheeler, was born near Churchville, Warren County, Iowa December 16, 1858. Later resided in Madison County and died at her home in Saint Charles October 7, 1898. Belonged to a family of ten children, 7 boys and 3 girls, nine still living. United with Christian Church at the age of 18. Became the wife of C. H. Clanton more than 16 years ago and leaves to mourn a husband and five children. Rev. Elder at the M. E.
