Carolyn J. Babbs, 80, of Sellersburg returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born November 8, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky to her late parents, William and Sallie Hatfield. Carolyn loved books, studied ancient history, enjoyed the theater, watching old movies and listening to classical music, but her real joy came from being a mother and grandmother. Kind and compassionate with a generous heart, she was a friend, mother, and grandmother to not just her family but to all in need. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin B. Babbs; grandson, Ross D. Ruffra; and brother, Bill Hatfield.

She is survived her sons, Melvin A. Babbs (Jeanette), Marcus Babbs (Deanna), Sean Babbs (Tarah); daughters, Denise Ruffra (David), Ramona Babbs, Jamie Ziegler (Jack); sister, Ethel Scrogham; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Friday at the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
