Miss Sara also owned and operated The Coffee Cup Diner in Perry, Georgia, in the 1960's. I was told by Miss Sara that she inherited Lewis' Lake from her great-uncle, Tom Lewis, if I remember correctly. My mother ran Lewis' Lake from 1970-1972. I worked for Miss Sara after school, on weekends, and during Summer vacation. I helped Momma in the restaurant at night. I kept the restaurant floors swept, mopped, waxed, and buffed, and cut the grass. I tended to the cattle, I operated a tractor taking care of all the bushhogging, harrowing, bottom plowing, and planted all the wheat and millet, and helped bail the hay for the cows. I also maintained and ran the swimming pool during the summers. Yes, I was a busy young man, and still found time to fish. I learned to drive by operating the tractor, and Miss Sara would let me drive her pickup around the farm before I even had my learners permit. She was a dear sweet lady. I loved living there, and it broke my heart when we left. ~ Mike Ridgdill, May 20, 2023
