Dominic A. DiGiammarino, 84, of Wakefield died on Sunday, March 25 at his home.

Born in Malden on August 17, 1927 he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Ciaraldi) DiGiammarino.

Dominic was a graduate of Malden High School, Newman Prep in Boston, UMass Amherst and earned his master's degree in education from Salem State College. He was a navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Dominic was a longtime Biology Teacher at Wakefield High School and was the founder of Occupational Vocational Education at the High School. He was also the former owner of Crystal Driving School in Wakefield.

Dominic was the former head coach of the Freshman football team at Wakefield High. He also coached Freshman baseball and was the Athletic Trainer.

Dominic was the husband Doris G. (Capone) DiGiammarino. He was the father of Chris DiGiammarino and his wife Dawn of Kittery Point, ME, Joanne Hyde and her husband Ernie of Westford and Dawn Tyrrell and her husband Danny of Chelmsford. He was the brother of Frank DiGiammarino Jr., of FL, Larry DiGiammarino of TN, Robert DiGiammarino of Marblehead and the late John DiGiammarino. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10 A.M. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
