BAKKEN, Ronald A.
Passed away on January 4, 2008, in Granite Bay at the age of 69. Ron was born on September 1, 1938 in Crookston, MN, to Arthur and Lena (Petersen) Bakken. He was the beloved husband to Beryl for 49 years. Ron was also the loving father to his children, Jon and Kris. Additionally, he is survived by granddaughter, Emily and daughter-in-law, Sandra Bakken of Roseville; grandson, Walker and son-in-law, Kevin Knauss of Granite Bay; his brother, David and his wife, Carol of South Dakota; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. After serving his country in the Air Force from 1957-60, Ron went on to retire from McClellan AFB as a Quality Control Supervisor for F 111's in 1985. After retirement, Ron became very active in the Granite Bay community. He served several times on the Granite Bay MAC, South Placer Fire Protection District sub-committees, an alternate to Placer County LAFCO and he helped start and maintain the Granite Bay community website. Recently Ron was involved in planning the Granite Bay Community Park and landscaping corridor along Douglas Blvd. Ron was honored in 2003 by Placer County with a community service commemorative coin, presented by Supervisor Ted Gaines, for his dedicated volunteer service to Granite Bay. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on January 14 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6365 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Granite Bay Community Park designated to Ron Bakken Memorial, PO Box 2704, Granite Bay CA 95746.
