Charles Mitchell, 56 years old, an old resident of Sangamon county, dropped dead at 9 o'clock yesterday morning while working in the garden at his home, five miles southwest of Loami. He had been feeling apparently well and heart trouble is assigned as the cause of death.

The deceased arose early Monday morning, as was his general custom, and after finishing breakfast went into the garden to work. While attending to his duties he fell dead. A hired man who was standing near him at the time, ran to his assistance, but the body was lifeless.

The deceased was born and reared in this county and had spent all his life farming. He is survived by his wife and five children. They are: Herbert Mitchell, Live Springs, Iowa; Mrs. Cora Rigg and Mrs. Lillie Rigg, Macon, and Elsie and Ruth Mitchell at home.

The funeral was held Wednesday at the residence. Rev. J. M. Johnson of Petersburg will officiate, and the interment will be made in Waverly Cemetery.
