Mrs. Martha Ann Mitchell, aged 50, widow of Archie R. Mitchell, died at 6:15 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, at Memorial hospital, Springfield, following a major operation January 3.
Mrs. Mitchell was born February 11, 1887, near Modesto, a daughter of the late William T. and Martha Searcy Ashby.
She was married to Archie R. Mitchell in 1909, and he preceded her in death April 7, 1942.
She is survived by four sons, Charles, Maurice, Glenn and Delbert Mitchell, all of Waverly; two daughters, Mrs. Opal Peterson, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Dorothy Dorsey, Santa Ana, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Osar of Lowder, Mrs. Nannie Wood of Medora, and Mrs. Ruth Haley of Springfield; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Methodist church of this city.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 19, at 2:30, in the Methodist Church,, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Bronson N. Smith.
Burial was in East cemetery.
