Glenn a small settlement about 5 miles south of Ceres was the scene of a horrible accident Saturday afternoon.Reginald Holcomb,a sixteen old lad of Annin Creek came over to his Uncle,J.H. Foote's to spend the day with his cousin Herbert a lad about his own age.A rabbit hunt was suggsted.The boys with Orrin Evans and Frank Matthews started for the woods.About half past two while young Holcomb was standing on a stump with the butt end of his gun resting on it,the gun in some manner slipped,and falling was discharged,the the whole charge of bird shot entering his abdomen on the lower left side and coming out the breast on on the right side.His companions picked him up and carried him home of his uncle and Dr.Place of Ceres was sent for..He died in great agony at about half past six,the doctor arrived to late to be of service(interview with Frank Matthew's widow,Vesta,1980s>Reg. was standing on a stump looking for game and taking a wizz and had his gun propped agains his knee.it or he moved and the gun went off.
