Charles W. Stables, 67, of 5 Birch died Friday, March 18, 1994, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 2, 1926, in Peoria to Richard and Florence Keyes Stables, he married Evelyn F. Schifgowich on Oct. 11, 1947, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Florence Biegler of Bartonville. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He was a sheet metal worker for more than 40 years, last working for J.A. Fritch Co., retiring in 1984. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 1 in Peoria.

A past master and member of Temple Masonic Lodge 46, AF&AM, he also was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; Mohammed Temple, Shrine in Peoria; and the Bartonville Lions Club.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Limestone American Legion Post 979.

Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville.
