S.H. Clayton, deceased, professed faith in Christ in early youth and joined Greasy Creek Baptist church, later moving his membership to Zion Baptist church, and in later years moved it to Oak Grove Baptist church, where he was one of the charter members until death.
He was born Augst 16th, 1853; died March 20th, 1935; 81 years, 7 moths and 10 days old.
He leaves 39 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, two brothers R.N. and W.A. Clayton of Benton; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie McNelly and Mrs. Violet Brookshire of Benton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Our loss is heaven's gain. We desire to thank everyone for their kindness during the sickness and death of our loving father and grandfather.
S.H. Clayton and Maggie Turner were married. To this union were born five children, of whom four are living:
1. J.H. Clayton, Benton
2. Mrs W.G. Bates
3. Mrs L.H. Lillard
4. G.C. Clayton, Benton;
Maggie departed this life and he later married Linda Rymer; to this union were born seven children, two of whom are living;

1. W.R. Clayton, Benton
2. Mrs Mary Barnes, Ocoee

Rinda departed this life and he later married Mrs Lizzie Ramsey, who survives.
