George A. Dirksen and his brother Theodore J. Dirksen were partners in A. Dirksen and Son Furniture Store in Springfield, IL, a business started by their grandfather, Anton Dirksen. The family sold fine quality furniture until the store closed in the mid 1960s. Following retirement, George and Alvina moved to Litchfield Park, AZ.
George was a devout member of the Roman Catholic faith. He loved to golf and was also a prolific letter writer. I miss his candor and sense of humor.
George died in Mountain View Manor in Prescott, AZ. His body was cremated and Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
