On the eve. of the Glorious 4th of July, there died at Brookdale, Charles H. Botsford one of the pioneers of Pierce Co., Washington State. He was a probate judge of Pierce Co. from 1878 to 1880, before the county seat was removed from Steilacoom to Tacoma, Wa. and has since been known as Judge Botsford. The dead pioneer came to Tacoma from New Brunswick, Canada. He was highly educated and a rare type of generous, cultured, and free-hearted manhood. Judge Botsford was 88 years old at the time of his death.
He was taken ill Tuesday morning. and never left his sick bed, dying in the eve. He leaves no family. The interment took place at Tacoma cemetery. - The deceased was a brother of Senator BOTSFORD of Moncton.
