Gary Lee Kelley of Miami died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 1:50 p.m. at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., at the age of 55.
He was born Nov. 9, 1947, in Picher to Ralph Kelley and Mildred (Rollins) Kelley. He married Jean Captain in Quapaw on Sept. 15, 1978. He was employed by Eagle-Picher Company of Quapaw.
Kelley lived in the Miami are most of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Commerce and graduated from Quapaw High School in 1965. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gary Lee Kelley Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; one son, John Ervin of Miami; one brother, Larry Kelley of Quapaw, and one grandson, Chance Ward Ervin of Miami.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at Ottawa Indian Cemetery with the Rev. Fred VonMoss officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mack Freeman, Dave Barnes, Dallas Wall, Kenny Nichols, Tom Ray and Jim Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Piercefield, Fred Mullin and Jack Scott.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher.
