Wesley E. Horsfall, 89, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and formerly of Olney, passed away Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, at his home in Kalamazoo.

He was born December 18, 1923, on his family’s farm in Scotts, Mich., the son of the late Walter and Emily Maude (Gray) Horsfall.

Wesley grew up the youngest of eight children on the family farm and attended Scotts schools. One of Wesley’s first jobs was selling milking machine equipment with his brother, William, to Illinois farms.

During World War II, he worked at Willow Run Bomber Plant building B-24s, where he met Marie Ernst. They were married from April, 3, 1934, [incorrect in published obit------Marriage cert, Bk 6 pg 49 Cert # 354 states they were married on 3 Apr 1945 in St. Joseph Church in Olney, Richland Co, IL.] in Olney, until her passing on July 29, 1984.

On November 29, 1985, he then married the former Betty (Worrell) West in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Wesley was employed by James River Corporation in Kalamazoo for 27 years until his retirement in 1986.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Horsfall; two children, Darryl (Karen) Horsfall, of Scotts, Mich., and Janet (Michael) Fitzpatrick, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three grandchildren, Sondra (Steven) Pletcher of Dorr, Mich., Sara (Spencer) Champion, of Scotts, Mich., and Eric (Katie) Fitzpatrick, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Caleb Pletcher, Kaitlynn and Gage Champion and Emma Fitzpatrick; stepchildren, Connie (Jack) Hayward, Monty (Marcia) West and Martha Cook; and several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Marie Horsfall; his parents, Walter and Maude Horsfall; three brothers, William, S. Carleton, and R. Stanley Horsfall; and four sisters, Lorraine Webster, Marguerite Fenwick, Marjorie Hayward and Lucille Horsfall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake Street, Kalamazoo, Mich., with Monsignor Michael Hazard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
