Max Curtis Chipman died of heart failure on Sunday, March 24, in a Las Vegas hospital. Born on July 15, 1940 in Murray, Utah to Curtis T. Chipman of American Fork and Faye Fulmer [Fay Fullmer] Chipman of Springville, Max grew up on the "farm" at the top of the hill in American Fork. Max was raised with a strong work ethic and was a known problem solver; with a flair for the creative, he could always come up with a solution. Max was a prolific inventor of unique products and designs and was very proud of his family name and its rich Utah history.

Max was an entrepreneur and businessman through and through, working for himself his entire life with successful ventures in both Utah and Nevada. He was never at a loss when it came to finding new and better ways of doing things. He attended Brigham Young University and was a true "Cougar" fan. Recently, while enjoying dinner with family members in the heart of "Ute" country, he remarked to the server that the block U needed to have the color changed to blue and have a B and Y added in front of it.

Max loved nothing more than being with his family or inventing something new; that is why you could always find him either down at "the shop" or up at "the farm."

Max is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Diane F. Chipman, his four children Gina Minifie (Tom) Mt. Vernon, Wa; De Nise Mason (Andrew) North Salt Lake City; David M. Chipman (Christine) Salt Lake City; Rebecca Gee (Vaughn "Chip") Herriman; Diane's children, Lisa Fazzi Weight (Malcolm), Andrea Fazzi Barbuti (Mark), Joel Fazzi (Christa) Las Vegas; Jill Fazzi Springville; 8 grandchildren; his two brothers Kenneth R . Chipman (Louise) Farmington, NM; and Joe Chipman (Karen) American Fork. Max is preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Jim Chipman. A private celebration of Max's life will be held in the home of David and Christine Chipman on April 13. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Max's honor at www.heart.org.
