Obituary
Opal Cleous MOTT
In loving memory of my mother who died December 28, 2009 after an extended illness.
My mother was born Oct 13, 1921 in Harper County, Kansas to Edna and Odell Cleous. She attended Harper County Schools and lived in Kansas until she married my father, Lloyd Arthur Mott, Feb 2, 1944, in Pittsburg, Kansas. My father was stationed at Camp Crowder, MO, and my parents lived there a few months until he was sent overseas. My mother returned to Kansas and later stayed with her parents. In January 1946, after my father returned from military duty, my parents bought a car and drove to California to visit my father's mother and other relatives and then moved to Washington State.
I was born in 1947 as their only child, Edward Odell Mott. We lived near Green Lake and my mother was a member of the Methodist Church at Green Lake. While living in that area, my mother was a den mother for Den #152, and in 1958 we moved to 6214 38th Street and joined the Ravenna United Methodist Church.
My father and mother started a company known as Commercial Plastics, which they owned for 10 years before retiring. They both enjoyed gardening and helped start the Pea Patch Program now famous in Seattle.
My mother's hobby was making quilts.
I had the blessing of watching over my mother until her death and was with her the day she died.
She has two grandchildren, Lucas and Jennifer Mott.
There will be a memorial service at the Ravenna United Methodist Church located at 5751-33rd Ave NE, Seattle WA 98105, at 10:00 AM January 16, 2010.
