Clarence "Roy" Edwards, 75, of Stuarts Draft, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Augusta Health.
He was born December 13, 1933, in Ettowah County, Alabama, a son of the late Clarence Alford and Mattie Lou Baker Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was a member of the Fishersville Baptist Church. He graduated from Auburn University and attended Brown University. He served with the Marines in Korea and was a computer design engineer with General Electric for over 30 years where he devolped computer chips for the Apollo Space program.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Kiser; and two brothers, Bill and Frank Edwards.
Survivors include his wife Mavis C. Edwards; one son, Paul Darryl Edwards of Stuarts Draft; one daughter, Pamela Kay Lotts and George Wiseman of Waynesboro; daughter-in-law, Terri Edwards of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Anthony Lotts of Atlanta, Jasmaine Wiseman of Waynesboro, Heather Kiser and Forrest Kiser of Stuarts Draft, Aubrey Edwards of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Brandon Edwards of Stuarts Draft; three sisters, Ruth Reynolds and Barbara Alford of Gadsden, Alabama and Willene Price and her husband, Jim, of Concord, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Hellen Crabtree of Stuarts Draft.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Fishersville Baptist Church by the Reverend John Hamric and the Reverend Tom Cribb. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elevator Fund of Fishersvlle Baptist Church, P. O. Box 82, Fishersville, VA 22939.
