CHARLES W. "CHARLIE" ANDERSON passed from this life Wednesday morning, March 27, 2013 in Hitchcock.

Born July 9, 1932 in Kimbrow, TX, Mr. Anderson had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1945. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War before going to work for the postal service in Texas City as a mail carrier and clerk, retiring after 37 ½ years. Charlie was a member of the Lutheran faith, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5400, a former member of the Chaparral Golf Club in Dickinson and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and coaching Hitchcock Little League baseball when he was able.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 61 years, Joyce Anderson of Hitchcock; daughters, Susan Feltner and husband, Michael, Brenda Kettle and husband, David, all of Santa Fe; sons, David Anderson and wife, Patricia of Dickinson, Steven Eric Anderson and his companion, Jan Sexton of Alvin; brothers, James Anderson, Brenham, Earl Anderson, Athens; sisters, Nannie Moser, Janice Fairchild both of Santa Fe, Gladys Ellis, Alvin, Linda Alexander, Texas City, Sharon Pendley, Sugarland; grandchildren, Kevin Kettle (Brittany), Heather Young (Josh), Steven Anderson, II (Jennifer), Hailey Anderson (Pat), Holly Anderson, Kyle Kettle; great-grandchildren, Leighton, Trip, Hadley, Carson and Anson; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastors Walter Dube and Greg Pendly officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steven Anderson, II, Michael Carr, James Carr, Jeff Ellis, Kyle Kettle and Junior Moser. Honorary bearers will be Kevin Kettle and Josh Young.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to A-Med Hospice for the love and compassion they brought to Mr. Anderson during his illness and suggests that those wanting to honor his memory consider making donations to A-Med or to the American Cancer Society.
