Services for G. Gilbert Sheldon, 70, of 12701 117th St., Orion, are 10 a.m. Monday at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Burial is in Reynolds Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Reynolds American Legion.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Fur Takers Association or the American Legion Post 1166, Reynolds. He was a member of both organizations.
Mr. Sheldon died Thursday, March 31, 1994, at home.
He was born March 11, 1924, in Edgington Township, the son of Howard and Maude Kuhn Sheldon. He married Myrtle M. Fluegel Jan. 15, 1949, in Coal Valley.
He was a farmer for many years in the Orion area.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of Rural Township Highway Commissioners, National Trappers Association, National Rifle Association, Antique Engines and Tractors Association, Association for Wildlife Legislative Fund of America and Western Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Jean Kissell, Beaver Dam, Wis.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lisa Sheldon, Orion; grandchildren, Sarah and Gregory Sheldon, Orion; and a brother, Lewis Sheldon, Rock Island.
