Dec 12, 1938 - Carroll Daily Herald - Manning - Funeral services for Mrs. James W. McCall, 58 years old, were held at the Ohde Funeral Home at 1 o'clock Sunday with the Rev. Alexander Wimberly officiating.
Mrs. McCall was born Amanda Christina Oberkamper, the daughter of William and Sophia Oberkamper in Franklin County, Mo., on Dec. 8, 1880 and passed away at the Wyatt Memorial Hospital Dec. 9, 1938. The first eight years of her life were spent in Missouri, the family moving to Iowa in 1888, where Mrs. McCall spent the remander of her life.
In 1900, she was united in marriage to James McCall and to them six children were born. One son, Clarence Albert, preceded his mother in death. Mr. McCall and the following children survive: Mrs. Mable Ethel Kunce, Yale, Ia.; Earl Irvin of Panora, Ia.; Lyle James of Des Moines; Raymond Lloyd of Yale; and Delbert Elmo of Manning. One grandchild preceded her in death and one survives. The following brothers and sisters mourn her passing: Mrs. Emma Tucker, Mrs. Ella Simmers, Mrs. Elsie Zaruba, Mrs. Rena Belgrade, Mrs. Rose Hutchinson, August Oberkamper, Will Oberkamper and Jack Oberkamper.
Mrs. McCall was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She had been in ill health for the past nineteen years. The family moved to Manning in 1929 and have lived here since that time.
