He was buried in the "Old Grave Yard" of Bridgewater in Section A, grave 58. Rebecca, his wife, is buried next to him (grave 59). Tombstone reads. "John Washburn was born 1646, married Rebecca Lapham 1679, died 1719, aged 73 years. He gave the land for this burying yard and meeting-house."
