OBITUARY:
Rosanna Woolsey Austin, 89, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Austin was born in Corsicana, Texas, and lived in Chattanooga for 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Austin; son, Cardinal Woolsey Jr; and a brother, Otis Rector. She retired from East Brainerd Elementary School after a 30-year teaching career. She was a lifetime member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She adored her grandchildren and was thankful and blessed that her grandson, Capt. Matthew Woolsey, had just returned from a 15-month deployment in Iraq and she got to meet her great-granddaughter, Grace.
The family wishes to thank all the cargivers at Carestone Assisted Living facilith where she lived for the past three years. She was a faithful fan of the Atlanta Braves and Lady Vols basketball and was the most knowledgeable sports fan for her age.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Pat (Jane) Woolsey, Franklin, Tenn; three grandchildren, Laura Yanin, Matthew (Katherine) Woolsey and Chris Woolsey, great-granddaughter, Grace Woolsey.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will be in Hamiltion Memorial Gradens.
