Enlisted in March 1862 at Big Shanty for Confederate service and was a member of Co. "I", 40th Ga Regt. In 1864 he re-enlilsted in Co. "A", 8th Ga Batt., and became a lieutenant, serving under Gen. N. B. Forrest until his surrender in 1865. In 1873 he became a member of the Cassville lodge No. 136, and in 1883 joined the Cedar Creek Baptist church; a member of the board of [Cass] county commissioners from Jan 1891 - Jan 1893.
