Funeral services for John A. Anderson, 74, lifelong resident of the Bishop Hill community, were held at his son's home where he has lived following a stroke.

John Andrew Anderson was born June 1, 1865 at Bishop Hill, the son of Hokan and Mary Anderson. As a boy he attended Bishop Hill Colony church with his parents and he attended Maple Hill school. Mr. Anderson spent the greater part of his life in farm work and farmed in the area surrounding Bishop Hill.

In January, 1893 he was married to Bertha Olson, who passed away one year later, following the birth of daughter Julia. January 26, 1896 he married Augusta B. Johansdotter/Lenberg. She passed away February 21, 1932. They born three children : daughters, Pearl Lillian, Marvelyn Juanita, and a son Julian. They survive him. One brother, Alfred Anderson and one sister Mrs. Albin (Anna) Johnson also survive. A brother Edwin and his parents proceeded him in death. Another son Dennis was still born in 1919.
