Born in Saint-Pierre-Montmagny, Québec, Wil immigrated to the U.S. and worked as a millwright at the Stevens Mill & the Awkwright mill. Following his retirement, Wil and Blanche moved to Somerset, where their beachfront home contained the controls for the Borden Flights Lighthouse in the mouth of Mount Hope Bay. He had remarried to another Yvonne after his first wife's death, but still stayed close to his first wife's family.
