RICHARD LEE MAYO, 70, of Barboursville, W.Va., joined his heavenly Father on Saturday, April 30, 2005, in Surf Side Beach, S.C. He was born August 22, 1934, in Logan, W.Va., the son of the late Melvin and Bea Mayo. Richard proudly served his country for 20 years, during which he completed two tours in Vietnam and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Preceding him in death were his sister, Donna Jean Talip, and brother Frank Mayo. Richard is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Blanche D. Farley Mayo. Richard and Blanche shared a unique love for 45 years. The proud father of three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Lee and Debbie of Chauncey, W.Va., Mark of Logan, W.Va., and Chris and Diane of Barboursville, W.Va. His grandchildren were his special gifts. Kristin and Matthew of Chauncey, W.Va., Amanda and Zach of North Carolina, Blake and Brook of Barboursville, W.Va.; sisters and brother-in-law, Gloria (Peewee) and Charles McCloud of Newark, Ohio and Darlene Lonker of Roanoke, Va.; special brother-in-law, Dave Farley; mother-in-law, Anna Lambert. In addition, special friends Jack and Jenny Harris, Dwight and Nelma Kestner, Gene and Doris Mays and Bill Tomblyn. Richard was a member of the Marine Corps League, past member of the The Lions Club, Barboursville. He was also a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. The celebration of Richard's life will be held Thursday, April 5, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Dr. David Lemming and Pastor Richard Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
