Mrs. Mary Margaret Scott died early Friday morning, December 19th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Bates, from pneumonia.
Mrs. Scott was born March 13, 1850 at Springwood, Botetourt county, and was the daughter of Captain Jake and Elizabeth Spangler. She was married in 1869 to Madison Allen Scott who preceded her to the grave sixteen years ago. The following sons and daughters survive: Mrs. C. N. Lacy, Los Angeles, CA; (Mrs.) D. F. Spitzer, Marlinton, W. Va.; Mrs. J. S. Snyder, W. B. Scott, Steubensville, Ohio; Mrs. J. J. Bates, Mrs. R. R. Jenkins, W. S. Scott, M. A. Scott M. A. Scott and H. T. Scott of this city and Mrs. W. B. Beard, of Roanoke.
Funeral services were conducted from the First Brethren church, of which the deceased was a member, Sunday afternoon December 21st at half past two o'clock. Interment was in Green Hill.
