The body of Sgt. Wilmer M. Briscoe, who was died in an automobile accident in France, March 13, 1945, has been returned here for burial.

A Son of Oscar Briscoe, SGT Briscoe graduated from North Street High School as valedictorian of his class. He was employed at the Portsmouth Navy Yard for three years before his induction into the service in March 1943. He went overseas in April 1944, serving with the 548th Light Pontoon Engineers Company.

In addition to his father, surviving are: sisters, Mrs. Fanstine Scott, Mrs. Catherine Duson, Miss Rebecca Briscoe and Mrs. Henrietta Smith; brothers, Charles, Lester and Donald.

Funeral services will be held from the Caldwell Funeral Home, with the Rev. J.B.A. Dyson officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors by Charles Harden Post No. 74, American Legion.
