Tryon, NC - Marion Ryan McCown, Sr. died Tuesday night, May 22, 1962 at 8:45 p.m. A former town veteran attorney and civic leader and member of the Polk County Bar Association. Native of Dillon, SC and son of the late Robert M. and Sally Galloway McCown. A U. S. Army World War II Veteran and a member of the Tryon law firm of McCown, Lavendar and McFarland. Charter member and past president of the Tryon Rotary Club and a Mason, Shriner and member of the Episcopal Church. He had made his residence in Tryon, NC for about 35 years and was a graduate of University of South Carolina. Survivors included: his step-mother, Mrs. B. M. McCown; two daughters; one son; one sister; one brother; six grandchildren. He was 69 years of age at demise and interment was in the Polk Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
