He lived in the Blue Rapids area all his life. He attended Blue Rapids High School and Concordia Business College. He was manager of the grain elevator at Blue Rapids before assuming ownership of the Winifred Grain Elevator in Winifred, KS.
On March 15, 1924 , he was united in marriage to Myrtle Evelyn Fincham. She preceded him in death August 19, 1955. To this union were born two sons; Ronald R. Estes of Jacksonville, FL and Ross C. Estes of McPherson, KS.
On June 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Elsie C. Ayers.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Royal Order of the Moose. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; two sons; three step-children, Mrs. Pat Sutton, Campo, Calif.; John Ayers, Chula Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Nancy Reynolds, Orville, Ohio; his parents; one sister, Mrs. Homer Foreman, Youngtown, AZ; one aunt, several uncles and cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 5, 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery with Blue Rapids Lodge 169, A.F. & A.M. in charge. Perry Funeral Home, Blue Rapids, KS was in charge of arrangements.
