Ruth Maxine Moody, 87 year old Blackfoot resident died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Pocatello after a fall.

She was born April 4, 1925, in Bell City, Missouri, the daughter of Chester G. Abernathy and Dolly Jane Stewart Abernathy.

She was raised in Stoddard County in Bell City until age 17 when she moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She later moved to Charleston, Missouri and has made Blackfoot her home since 1982.

She was married to Albert Studt in April of 1946 in Missouri. Ruth and Albert had two daughters, Carol and Charlotte. They were married for 19 years. She later married William Otis "Odie" Moody on June 18, 1966.

She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized at age 19.

She loved to babysit and loved children in general. Children always brought a smile to her face and she loved to watch them play. She enjoyed taking care of her home, flowers, and growing tomatoes in her garden. She would hand water her tomato plants daily every summer.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Jean) Studt Harris, of Blackfoot, Charlotte Wilma (Studt) (Terry) Tolan, of Mackinaw, IL, Rebecca Maxine (Moody) (Karl) Fangsrud, of Blackfoot, and Patricia (Moody) Terry, Granite City, IL; two other stepchildren; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Lois Abernathy, of Pocatello; and a sister, Jemima (Pedersen) (Glen) Berggren, of Blackfoot.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Otis "Odie" Moody, a brother, Paul Abernathy, and five sisters: Ester, Sarah, Naomi, Hazel and Mira.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
