Arthur O. Giese was born Nov. 24 1878 in Menomonie and had always made his home here.

He graduated from the Menomonie High School in 1896 and from the St. Paul Business College in 1890. He was a telegraph operator for the Omaha Railroad and also operator for the Edwards Wood & Co. who had offices in the Arcade building. Later he purchased the grocery store of E.A. Feldt and continued in this business for fifteen years. After discontinuing the grocery business he was employed by the Wisconsin Milling Co. up to the time the mill was sold.

Always an ardent conservationist, Mr. Giese held various offices in the Fish & Game association over a period of 20 years or more. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. For years he had a keen interest in the Menomonie Improvement association and was active in carrying out its projects of the boat house on Lake Menomin.
