ALMA CHARLOTTE MOUNT HOGBEN

FORMERLY OF TRUMANSBURG - Alma Charlotte Mount Hogben, 93, of Taylorsville, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Valley Nursing Center in Taylorsville. She was born July 31, 1915 to Ward O. Mount and Mae Pate Mount in Trumansburg, NY. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred S. Townsend; her second husband, Norman Hogben; two brothers, Jack and Burdett Mount; and one sister, Jean Mount Maide.

Alma was a nighttime telephone operator for the Trumansburg Home Telephone Co. before the age of touchtone telephones. She then became an LPN Nurse for many years, usually taking care of home care patients. She was a lifetime member of Trumansburg United Methodist Church in Trumansburg. During the time she spent at her winter home, she attended Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood, FL. She held memberships with Trumansburg Chapter of "Order of Eastern Star", lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary #770 in Trumansburg for 70 years, and lifetime member of Trumansburg Historical Society.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory include two children, Chauncey Townsend and wife, Kathy of Hot Spring Village, AR, and Roger Townsend and wife, Joann of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Craig Townsend and wife, Jenny of Vernon, CT, Al Townsend and wife, Kaycee of Bend, OR, Sally Ornsby and husband, Dan of Stanley, NC, Susan Borden and husband, Bill of Trumansburg, and Sherry Lambarto and husband, Mark of DeLand, FL; three step grandchildren, John Dunbar and wife, Carole of Beaverdam, NY, Christie Shaffer and husband, Steve of Watkins Glen, NY, and Melisia Reilly and husband, Richard of Watkins Glen; eight great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren, one step great-great-granddaughter, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held in Trumansburg at a later date.
