John P. Gegner, native Sanduskian who operated a blacksmith shop here for many years and uncle of Police Sergt. Lawrence Gegner, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Oliver, Toledo, Thursday according to word received here last night.
Gegner, who was retired, left Sandusky about 10 years ago to make his home with his daughter. Gegner, with Sergt. Gegner's father, operated a blacksmith shop on Columbus Av near Hayes Av and at one time on Hancock St near Scott St.
Gegner was aged 80 years and had been in ill health for some time. He was well known here and leaves several relatives in Sandusky.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. today, at the Will Birkenkamp Funeral Home, Toledo. The body will be brought to Sandusky later this afternoon for brief services and burial at Oakland Cemetery.
