Funeral Services Held for Pioneer Physician

Funeral services for Dr. I.A. Briggs, for many years a physician in Payne county, who died Thursday following an operation for stomach trouble, were held Sunday midnight at the Christian church, the Rev. A.G. Smith officiating. Masonic services were held at the grave. Dr. Briggs has been in ill health for some time, but had continued his extensive medical practice.

Dr. Briggs is survived by his widow, a son, Ansel Briggs, a Harvard university student, and a daughter, Miss Helen Lenore, Minco. In addition to his widow and children, three brothers and five sisters survive. The brothers are Dr. T.H. Briggs, Waynoka; Ellis Briggs, Manassa, Colo., and Wesley Briggs, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The sisters are Mrs. Mary Shell, Mrs. Emily Wilson and Mrs. Cornelia Brown, Johnson City, Tenn.; Mrs. Hallie Oakes, Elizabethtown, Tenn., and Mrs. Margaret Oakes, Mangum.
