In his zest for life, he never met a stranger and cherished the company of many dear friends. Maurice was a Knoxville High graduate, served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Bell Telephone Company with 41 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Denise Martin; son, Michael Wayne Martin; parents, Herbert Newton Martin and Virginia Nicholson Martin and brother, Jerry Dan Martin.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Ann Sanderson Martin; children and spouses, Jerry and Beth Martin, Lora and Jim Hazelwood, Joe and Melissa Martin; grandchildren, Amber, Lindsey, Kaylor, Michael, Olivia and Anna Martin; great-granddaughters, Tyeshia and Angelina; sisters, June Alley and Patrice Smith (Gary); brother, Gary Martin; sisters-in-law, Frances Weaver (Fred), Jean Major (Gene); many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Farragut Presbyterian Church with a Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. with Rev. W. Judson Shaw and Rev. Craig Hendrix officiating.
Family and friends will gather for Graveside Services at 10 a.m. Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Adair Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
