Dies Suddenly
While at Work
W. G. Douglass, 370 East Tompkins street, veteran night watchman of the American Railway Express company at the Burlington depot, dropped dead at 2:30 o'clock this morning while performing his duties, apparently the victim of a sudden heart attack. Mr. Douglass has been in apparently perfect health up to the time of his death.
The deceased, who was the son of Gordon and Mary Douglass was born July 15, 1867 in Belfast, Ireland. He came to this country when seventeen years of age. On January 10, 1888, he was married to Ida Smith at Monmouth, to which union nine children were born, seven of whom survive.
Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Bessie Dunbar of Henderson; Mrs. Hattie Kelso, Mrs. Olive Gunther and Harry Douglass, all of Galesburg; John of California, and Ray and Charles of Galesburg. Mrs. Ruth Munson and Edward Douglass preceded him in death.
Mr. Douglass was a member of the Vesper Masonic lodge, Low Twelve, Murga Grotto and Moose fraternal organizations.
