Mary Esther Wofford Swicegood, 88, of Carolina House formerly of Swicegood Rd. died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Carolina House.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Tyro United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Thursday at the church just prior to the service and other times at the home of the daughter on Swicegood Rd.
Mrs. Swicegood was born October 13, 1924 in Davidson County to Samuel N. Wofford and Lucy Adams Wofford. She was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church and retired from Duracell. Mary was a very caring Mother and Grandmother and a caregiver for many of people in the community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Carl Swicegood in 1964, two brothers, Charlie Wofford, Roy Wofford and a sister, Pauline Sink.
Surviving are a son, Richard Wayne (Buddy) Swicegood of Linwood; a daughter, Judith Swicegood Shook of Linwood; four grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Claude Wofford of Roanoke, Va.
