Mary Jo Gillespie, 69, Indianapolis, passed away on March 31, 2013. She was the tenth of twelve children born to James Hester Floyd and Anna Ruby Jordon Floyd.

She was born in Sturgis, KY, and spent her early years in Morganfield, KY.

She moved to Indianapolis when her father was hired at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She attended St. Catherine Grade School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1963.

She worked at Higgins Restaurant on Shelby Street where she met her future husband and they had their first date on Valentine's Day.

She married Jack Gillespie on August 19, 1969. She enjoyed meals with the girls at MCL; volunteering at the Altenheim and the FOP Easter Egg Hunt. She loved to dress up for special holidays. She greatly admired Bob Knight and I.U. basketball. She loved her animals and talking on the phone and casino visiting, but most important of all were her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Jack Gillespie; children, Kelly Jo Grimes, John C. Gillespie,II, and Matthew Floyd Gillespie; and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Maggie LeForge; brother Tony Floyd.
