In 1942, she married Urban S. "Jack" Adams of Ogallala, Nebraska and in 1949 they moved to Oshkosh, Nebraska where they ran Adams Hardware together until Jack passed away in 1973. Isabel ran the hardware store until 1978, and afterward worked for Nerud Realty and at the Garden (NE.) County Court House.
Isabel was a very caring and giving person, serving the Oshkosh, Nebraska community for many years as a member of Oshkosh (NE.) United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She strived to preserve Garden (NE.) County history as a member of the Garden County (NE.) Historical Society, and belonged to two bridge clubs, and the Couples Birthday Supper Club.
Strong and independent, yet gentle and kind, Isabel always had a smile for everyone, and made people smile with her subtle sense of humor. She loved, and was loved in turn, by family and friends. She vehemently requested, in the winter of her life, that she remain in Oshkosh, the home she loved. In her final year, she was cared for by a community of her dear neighbors and friends at the Garden County (NE.) Nursing Home and Garden County (NE.) Hospital.
Isabel was preceded in death by: husband, Urban S. "Jack" Adams; sisters, Margaret Callen and Ruth Brown; brothers, Paul, Charles, and Francis Brown.
Isabel is survived by: sons, John Charles Adams and his wife, Janet of El Paso, TX. and James Richard Adams and his wife, Gay of Cary, N.C.; grandchildren, Melissa Jo Ediger and her husband, James of Papillion, NE., Robert James Adams and his wife Lisa of Houston, TX., Mark Robert Adams of Raleigh, N.C. and Robert Steven Adams of Cary, N.C.; and close friend of the family, Susan (Eckdall) Lake and her husband, Dan of Belleview, NE. and a host of relatives and friends
Burial was in the Ash Hollow cemetery, Lewellen, Nebraska.
