John was always known as John Joseph Clarambeau, but church records showed his middle name was actually "Baptist". The middle initial "B" is on his gravestone, but seeing as he preferred Joseph as his middle name and that is how he was known, I am leaving just the middle initial on this findagrave memorial page as well.
Our family history book as well as ancestry.com indicate John was born in 1886, rather than the 1885 date that is on his gravestone. I will trust that our family history book is correct and that he was born in 1886.
His father was August Clarambeau, 1850-1917, and his mother was Marie Matit Soquet Clarambeau, 1852-1909. Both were born in Belgium (not France). John's father August died in Pennington County, South Dakota (covers Rapid City, SD) according to information I found online from ancestry.com, although his memorial page here on findagrave indicates he died in Beadle County, SD.
John had 10 other brothers and sisters. Note of interest: his wife, Ruby, also had ten brothers and sisters.
John was a farmer, and Catholic. His wife Ruby Swearingen Clarambeau and their children were Seventh-day Adventists.
John passed away from cancer in 1959.
