Travelers Rest, SC - Anson Angus Merrick died on Monday, Nov. 5, 1962 at 12:10 p.m. at Stroud Memorial Hospital in Marietta, SC. Native of Walhalla, SC and son of the late Anson Cummings and Julia Camp Merrick. Graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy, class of 1909. He was a civil engineer and architect. U. S. Army Spanish American War and World War I Veteran. Town manager of the Town of Tryon, NC and past secretary of the Tryon Chamber of Commerce and charter member of Tryon Rotary Club. Survivors included: one son; one sister, Mrs. B. Frank Sloan of Walhalla, SC; four grandchildren. He was 76 years of age at demise and interment was in the Polk Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
