OPEN HOUSE SUNDAY TO HONOR ALFORDS
Mr. and Mrs. Asa E. Alford, 3236 Russell, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at open house Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Alford, 2141 S. 8th.
Another son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Alford, are joining the Stanley Alfords as hosts.
Houseparty will include Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Kiker of San Angelo, Mrs. Charles Switzer, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hitchcock of Brownwood and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Alford, also of Brownwood.
Mr. Alford was born July 3 1898, in Burnet. Mrs. Alford was born March 28, 1900, at Salt Creek in Brown County.
They met Nov. 5, 1916, at Brownwood where they were married April 10, 1920.
After their marriage they lived at Pasadena, Calif., Memphis, Tenn., and Brownwood before coming to Abilene.
Mr. Alford manufactures Mr. A's Peanut Brittle. For 38 years he was superintendent of Abilene Candy Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Alford are members of University Baptist Church. He is a member of its Pioneer Sunday School Class, she of the Dorcas Class.
They have five grandchildren.
The Alfords' hobbies are their flowers and garden.
