Mark D. Shearer, 54, of Ford City, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his residence. Mark was born July 22, 1958, in Leechburg, the son of the late Elsie Mae (McComb) Maurhoff. He worked as a machinist at Herkules KPM in Ford City, for more than 30 years. Mark attended North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, in Kittanning. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Dominique Marie (Brian) Bookwalter, of Worthington; and his son, John Robert Kunkle III, of New Kensington. Mark is also survived by his four grandchildren, William and Giana Bookwalter, and Austen and Jayden Kunkle; three brothers Jim, Paul and John Shearer; three sisters, Elsie Sackett, Barbara Waldenville and Fran Waldenville; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Gina Mull. Besides his mother, Mark was preceded in death by his son, Jacob "Jake" Ryan Shearer, who passed away in 2003. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, in REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, in the funeral home, with Pastor David Blevins officiating. Burial service will be held in Union Cemetery, South Buffalo Township.
