MARTIN V. COLT KILLED WHEN STRUCK BY CAR
Martin V. Colt, 55, was killed instantly early Monday morning as he attempted to cross Highway 40 near Bowman and was struck by a car driven by Robert L. McCaffrey of Stockton. Mrs. Louise McCaffrey, mother of Robert, was a passenger in the car at the time of the accident. Colt lived with his brother, J. E. Colt, at Bowman, and it is presumed he was on his way home when he was struck. McCaffrey was released after being questioned by Jack Coe of the California Highway Patrol, who investigated the fatal accident. Besides his brother, J. E. Colt, the victim of the accident is survived by his mother, Mrs. Catherine Colt of Sierraville, and four sisters, Mrs. Florence Laycox of Auburn, Mrs. Harry Lincoln and Mrs. Alice Snow of Los Gatos, and Ella Orzalli of Sierraville. Martin Colt was a native of South Dakota, and a veteran of World War I. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lukens, Vettestad and Bryan Funeral Home, with committal services being held Thursday afternoon at the Golden Gate National Cemetery at San Bruno.
