Clarence Joseph Lane, 99, Martinsville, died April 5, 2013, in Martinsville. He was born January 9, 1914, in Hindsville, Arkansas, to the late James Joseph and Katie Cleo (Donaghey) Lane.

Clarence attended Willow Grove Nazarene Church, Martinsville. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed picking walnuts, cutting wood, fishing, gardening, the farm animals, and especially horses. In addition to farming, he worked for Hickory Furniture Factory in Martinsville, retiring in 1978. He also worked for 24 years at the Indiana Drain and Tile Company, Brooklyn. He will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and many friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shonnette Louise (Self) Lane, to whom he was united in marrage on September 14, 1946; siblings, Thomas Lane, Luther Lane, Truman Lane, Mary Hubbard, Martha Bowlin, Marie Lawson, Margie Lawson, Dixie Oxford, and Berthie Oxford.

Survivors include his children, Allan "Joe" Lane of Martinsville and Vicky L. Moore (David "Don") of Martinsville; 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Calling will be observed from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in White Lick Cemetery.
