IDA HANSEN OF MADSEN VICTIM IN ACCIDENT

Car Collides With Big Bus And Two Are Injured

Miss Ida Hanson died at the Holy Family hospital at 1:30 this morning as result of injuries suffered when an automobile driven by her brother, Isaac Hanson, collided with the Manitowoc and Fond du Lac bus near the Jerpen church late yesterday afternoon.

Isaac Hanson is still a patient at the hospital but was not seriously injured and is expected to be about again within a day or two.

Car Collides With Bus

The accident yesterday afternoon is the first serious one recorded against the inter-city busses out of this city. The Hanson car was south bound on the road while the big safety bus was east bound on Highway 31. The Hanson car, a Chevrolet touring, crashed into the bus, striking about at the left front wheel and then hitting the running board and body of the bus. The driver in his effort to avoid the collision swerved his bus into the ditch, knocked down the fence and brought the big machine to a stop in the Jacobson field. The big carrier is said to have been traveling close to thirty miles an hour but was not exceeding the limit. It had the right of way.

The Chevrolet touring car was badly wrecked and both Hanson and his sister were caught in the wreckage as the car turned over. Both were rushed to the hospital by Dr. Gregory of Valders who was called to attend them. At the hospital an examination revealed that Miss Hanson's hurts were much more serious than at first apparent and death came at 1:30 this morning.

...(report on condition of the bus)...

Miss Hanson is thirty-four years old and was born in this county. She attended the county schools and has made her home on a farm a half mile north of the Jerpen church. With her brother she had been conducting a small general store at Madson station and the two were on their way from the home farm to that of the brother, which is about a half mile south of the church, when the accident occurred.
